Mahjong, a dim sum parlor from the partners behind Cascabel Taqueria will open Saturday at 1542 Second Avenue. No one on the team that dared pocketsize Cascabel was Mexican but the tacos were great and the lines to get in crowded the sidewalk. Now Cascabel has settled into a larger space two doors south on the corner of Second Avenue with “chachkes” from Playa del Carmen, two plasma TV screens and a wall of wrestler portraits.

        Could be David Chiong’s Cuban-Chinese roots inspired the chutzpah to peddle dumplings right next to the long-running Chinese restaurant Pig Heaven. Expect some fusion.
